MIRACLE THEATER

“LET’S DEPOLARIZE SOIL HEALTH AND AGRICULTURE AND FIND COMMON GROUND”

“This isn’t about politics; this is about policy. This is about people, and people that can benefit from really good policies,” Somerhalder said, noting the film focuses on farmers, including rancher Gabe Brown and Rick Clark, who say regenerative practices have helped give their land an incredible environmental and financial boost.

“Lawmakers can come together over good policies,” Somerhalder said, urging Congress to reappropriate funds within the Farm Bill to pull “farmers off the drip” of the agricultural biotech companies. Sens. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) and Mike Braun (R-Ind.) are among the officials who appear in the film.

WHY DC? WHY DOES IT MATTER?

We want to create a powerful political force to promote regenerative agriculture in the upcoming 2023 US Farm Bill and beyond! It’s time to bring farmers and soil experts to Capitol Hill so those in charge of our government start writing soil health and regeneration into our legislation.

This all-encompassing bill plays a crucial role in governing the US food and agriculture system, covering essential aspects such as nutrition, conservation, rural investment, and land access. With far-reaching implications for farmer livelihoods, the environment, and national food security, it's no wonder the Farm Bill is one of the most significant pieces of US legislation. And with the next Farm Bill set to last through at least 2028, the time to act is now.

Both the Senate and House Agriculture Committees develop and write the Farm Bill, but all members of Congress vote to pass it, giving each of them a voice in shaping its provisions. Let's get Common Ground in front of our lawmakers and make our voices heard by signaling our support for key issues through marker bills. Together, we can create a better, more sustainable future for our food and agriculture system!
